For carpet cleaning in Hillingdon, the usual semi starts with the hall at £22, the staircase £41 and the landing £9, then £36 for each bedroom.
Hillingdon is a borough of semis. At the 2021 Census 35.1% of its 109,228 households lived in a semi and another 13.9% in a detached house. Flats came to only 30.8%, and very few of those were carved out of old houses (2.9% of households). The council’s own Local Plan describes Hillingdon as suburban, with areas of 1930s building and estates of the Metroland kind, and names the semi as its commonest home.
That shapes carpet cleaning here more than anything else. Roughly two households in three live in a house, most with a hall, one staircase and a landing to carpet, and more than half of households (56.6%) own their home.
Carpets in Hillingdon’s semis
In a 1930s semi the carpet usually runs from the front door through the hall, up one staircase and along the landing to the bedrooms. Our cleaner begins upstairs and finishes at the front door, which means nobody crosses a clean floor to get to a dirty one. A thorough vacuum the day before helps, and the marks are pre-sprayed before the portable machine does the hot water extraction. Plenty of people search for steam carpet cleaning, and this is what they get: hot water goes into the pile with the cleaning solution and the same pass draws it out again, with no steam blown into the carpet at all.
Detached houses, 13.9% of the borough’s households, bring bigger rooms. A lounge or a rear extension much larger than a normal living room is measured on the day and charged at £3 a square metre. Most rooms dry within a few hours if you keep the heating on in cold weather or a window open in warm weather. Put the furniture back only when the pile has stopped feeling damp.
Letting shared houses in Hillingdon
Hillingdon brought in borough-wide additional HMO licensing on 24 August 2026, and the scheme is set to run to 23 August 2031. It catches the smaller shared houses outside national mandatory licensing: a let to three or more people from more than one household. Planning rules tightened the year before. After the Full Council vote of 27 November 2025, the council extended the need for planning permission, for any conversion of a family home into a house for three or more unrelated sharers, from Brunel and Uxbridge South wards to the whole borough.
In a shared house every tenant walks the same hall, stairs and landing, so those get dirty first. Between tenancies those are the carpets to book, and if a full end of tenancy clean is planned for the same week, add the carpets to it: each bedroom is then £29 and the shared living room £36.
Carpet cleaning in Uxbridge
Brunel University London, chartered in 1966, is based on its Uxbridge campus, where all of its halls of residence are. Students who live off campus rent from local landlords, and the university runs its own Brunel Student Lettings service for landlords with property nearby. A student year is hard on a bedroom carpet and the mattress. Between tenants, the mattress is £35 and the carpet £36. Flats in Uxbridge are nearly all in purpose-built blocks: across Uxbridge and Colham & Cowley wards, 32.9% of households live in a block and 3.5% in a converted house. The carpet cleaner normally reaches the flat by a communal stair or a lift, and the job inside is the bedrooms and living room on one level. Elsewhere it is houses, 31.0% of households in semis and 13.3% detached, with their own stairs to add. The old town around Windsor Street has been protected as a conservation area from 1973.
Carpet cleaning in Hayes
Two old factories are now among the newest homes in Hayes. Barratt London’s Hayes Village sits on the old Nestlé factory site by the canal and is planned at 1,386 homes, keeping the Art Deco entrance and the south facade, and the main staircase too, inside the new buildings. On Blyth Road, the former EMI site has become the Old Vinyl Factory: more than 700 homes by U+I, mixed in with offices and a school. A new flat in either place may well have hard floors in the main room, which makes the rug and the sofa the cleaning job. A large rug costs £51, and upholstery cleaning takes in sofas, armchairs and dining chairs in your own room. Away from the canal, the semi is the commonest home in Hayes, housing 43.3% of households across its six wards, so carpet cleaning in most Hayes houses means a hall, stairs and a landing to go with the rooms.
Carpet cleaning in Ruislip
Seven Ruislip households in ten (71.4%) own their home, and 17.9% live in a detached house, so a carpet here is likely to be one the owner plans to keep. That is where stain protection after the clean is worth adding. At £33 a room, the protector holds a spill on the surface for long enough to be blotted up; no product makes a carpet stain-proof. Ruislip Village has been a conservation area from November 1969, and in January 2009 the council stretched it over the full length of the High Street, plus the suburbs of the 1920s and 1930s laid out to the west on the Park House Estate. The houses there vary a lot, so there is no standard layout to assume. When you book carpet cleaning, list the rooms with a rough size, and mention a staircase with a half-landing or a turn.
Carpet cleaning in Northwood
After Ickenham, Northwood has the largest share of detached houses of the Hillingdon areas on this page: they are home to 28.5% of households across its two wards. Where a lounge is too big for the standard room price, it is measured and the floor charged at £3 a square metre. The Glen is a very different kind of home: maisonette blocks put up in the 1950s in landscaped grounds, and a conservation area from July 2007. Inside the front door of each maisonette is its own staircase, which goes on the list as a flight at £41. One practical point for carpet cleaning in HA6: the district is split with Three Rivers in Hertfordshire, and addresses in that council’s Moor Park and Eastbury ward follow its parking rules, not Hillingdon’s. Check whose council tax bill you get before buying a visitor voucher.
Carpet cleaning in West Drayton
Flats make up 40.9% of households across West Drayton and Yiewsley wards, nearly all of them purpose-built (36.8%), and in Yiewsley ward taken alone the figure reaches 46.0%. A flat in a block is a compact carpet job, with the hall, the living room and the bedrooms all on one floor; the carpet cleaner carries the machine in from the entrance, so tell us the floor number and if a lift serves it. A quarter of households (25.8%) are tenants of a social landlord. If that is you and you are moving out, check what your council or housing association asks of the floors at handover before you book. In a house around West Drayton Green, a conservation area designated in 1969, or in Garden City, an area of special local character, the stairs (£41) and landing (£9) join the list.
Carpet cleaning in Ickenham
Ickenham is a district of large houses. In Ickenham & South Harefield ward 32.4% of households have a detached house and 35.5% a semi, against 20.3% in flats; three households in four (75.1%) own their home. Bigger houses usually mean more upholstery as well as more carpet. A two-seat sofa is £57, each seat beyond two adds £26, an armchair is £33 and a dining chair £13. Leather and suede are priced on a phone call, after we know the finish: aniline, semi-aniline, pigmented, suede or nubuck. The leather sofa cleaning page explains why the finish changes the method. Ickenham’s old village centre is a conservation area from January 1970. For carpet cleaning in a big house, tell us about any large rug in the dining or living room, as rugs are priced separately from the fitted carpet.
Carpet cleaning in Eastcote
Eastcote has the highest share of semis of any area on this page, 49.4% of households in Eastcote ward. They include the Eastcote Park Estate, which Comben and Wakeling built in the 1930s on part of the old Eastcote House parkland as affordable homes for London workers, and around 90% of its houses are semis on similar plots. Similar houses mean similar carpet jobs: a hall, a flight, a landing and the bedrooms, with the lounge either as one long room (£61) or two. Bungalows are the exception. The detached bungalows on St Lawrence Drive and Rodney Gardens have no stairs, so carpet cleaning there covers every room on a single floor, and the hallway (£22) is usually the most walked-on carpet in the house. Point out any old marks before the work starts. Most everyday soiling lifts, while bleach spots, dye transfer and burns are permanent, and the cleaner will say which is which.
Questions about carpet cleaning in Hillingdon
Can I get a Hillingdon parking waiver for the carpet cleaner?
Probably not. Hillingdon sells a day waiver for a vehicle only for activities on its list, large deliveries, removals and glazing work among them, and ordinary visits are excluded. A visitor voucher is the way to go instead. If the cleaner does have to pay for parking, we pass that on at cost, to a limit of £40.
How do visitor vouchers work in a Hillingdon permit zone?
The first ten visitor vouchers for each property in a permit zone cost nothing; after that they come in packs of ten. The resident starts a virtual session online for the visitor, and each visitor permit carries up to 50 sessions. Permit-holder bays in Hillingdon generally apply on weekdays from 9am to 5pm, and outside that window anyone may use them, so a weekend carpet clean or a start at 5pm or later often needs no voucher.
Is pay and display parking charged on Sundays in Hillingdon?
Usually not. In Hillingdon, pay and display bays generally charge Monday to Saturday (8am to 6.30pm, payable by PayByPhone), and Sundays and bank holidays carry no charge. Our booking hours run 8am to 7pm with Sundays included, so on a street with no permit bays a Sunday visit usually avoids the meter.
How is a whole-house carpet clean priced in a Hillingdon semi?
Add the rooms together for a starting figure. For a semi with three bedrooms and a through lounge, that means the hall (£22), the staircase (£41), the landing (£9), three bedrooms at £36 each and the through lounge (£61). One-off bookings start at £67, and a 50% deposit secures the date.
